MAIA+ (2022-2025)

MAIA is a Coordination and Support Action specifically designed to support the wide dissemination of the Innovation Actions funded under sub-topic 1. MAIA will act as an impact multiplier by providing social structures, technological and capacity building services to accompany, potentiate and help maximise the impact of its sister projects.

The MAIA consortium and this proposal represent the first step towards our vision of consolidating a strong, broad and action oriented network of solution providers, problem owners and enablers in the field of climate resilience. Both were built upon a carefully curated set of previous and ongoing Horizon 2020 projects (BRIGAID, CLARITY, PLACARD, RESCCUE, DRIVER+, Connecting Nature and ANYWHERE), concerning innovation for climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction. Building on this collective experience, MAIA aims to provide and enact a set of proven accompanying measures for the wide dissemination and implementation of Innovation Packages, while also taking concrete action to expedite the exploitation of climate resilience knowledge, i.e. addressing fragmentation and tearing down silos. We aim to make this knowledge more interoperable, accessible and usable, providing strong incentives for communities and regions to engage in the design and adoption of Innovation Packages.

MAIA's approach will i) consolidate networks - using the innovation systems approach to increase the visibility of climate innovators and their solutions and to support cross-fertilisation, mutual learning, and replication across regions; ii) connect knowledge - using a common taxonomy and semantic technology to make existing data and information more findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable for European regions and communities; iii) foster an enabling environment - using Communities of Innovation to drive citizen engagement, to build capacity (as a core part of our action), and to increase impact.

Horizon Nua contribution: Stakeholder engagement, exploitation and support and community building.
